How to Register

Step 1:

Attend an Information Session
This one-hour session provides an overview of the GED Program, the other St. Christopher House Adult Learning Programs as well as other St. Christopher House services and programs. At the end of the session, you will also sign-up to write an assessment test.

Call 416-848-7980 to register for the next Information Session

Step  2:     Write an Assessment
The GED Program uses the Canadian Adult Achievement Test (CAAT) to assess your academic readiness. The CAAT test is used to evaluate reading and math skills and can last 3-4 hours. Depending on the results, participants are accepted into the program or referred to another St. Christopher House program for further upgrading.

Step 3:

A Learning Coach will call you
Within one week of writing your assessment a Learning Coach will contact you to review your results.  Together you can talk about what you are interested in doing and what choices are available for you.  If the GED Program is right for you then you can begin.

Hours

Participants who are accepted into the program are expected to commit to 12 hours a week of instruction spread over 3 days for 4 hours at a time.

You get to build your own schedule by choosing from the following timeslots:

Monday to Friday:  9am – 1pm

Monday to Friday:   1pm – 5pm

Wednesday to Thursday: 5pm – 9pm

The Program

The GED program will help you prepare to write the GED exam.

In the program, you will:

  • work at your own pace, using Learnscape, a Canadian content GED preparation software
  • get extra support from experienced Learning Coaches and trained volunteers
  • have a chance to write practice tests before you write the Exam. These are Official GED Practice Tests.  They are similar in style and level of difficulty to the real GED exam
