The After-School Opera Program is sponsored by the Imperial Oil Foundation and the Canadian Opera Company and is for children ages 7 to 12, grade 2-7.  Over a 10 week period, children are exposed to all aspects of opera including singing, acting and set and costume design through hands-on experiences and the expertise of guest lecturers.  The students use what they have learned apply it to a new work written by head teacher Dean Burry.  They perform the world premiere of this new opera to family and friends at the final class.

Sessions take place during the Fall, Winter and Spring terms.  A maximum of 25 students can participate per term.

Classes take place on Wednesdays from 4:00 to 6:00pm in the Community Hall at 248 Ossington Avenue.

The cost for the program is $10 per student for 10 weeks.

Due to the overwhelming popularity of the program there are limitations on enrollment.  To ensure that ALL children get a chance to participate, a student can register for one of the three sessions.  The same child may be put on a waiting list for one of the other sessons (but not both).  Children who have never done the program will get priority over those on the waiting list.

Registration for 10-11 season is done through Sherry Squires, the Music School Coordinator.  Registration for the opera program will start Tuesday, September 7th.  To register, please contact Sherry at 416-532-4828 x127 or email sherrysq@stchrishouse.org
