Resume and Cover letters

Your Employment Counsellor/Job Developer will help you to develop an effective resume and cover letter targeted to the jobs you want. You have access to computers, up-to-date job board, fax machine, phone and other resources.

Job Search Strategies

We will look at the job market past and present. We will concentrate on effective ways to look for work and discuss the frustrations that most people face in today’s labour force.

Finding work means being able to adapt to a changing job market.  To be successful, we not only need to change/enhance our job search strategies, we also need to change our thought patterns about what work is.  We will you help participants look at ideas around work and review some strategies for more effective job search. 

Internet Job Search

We will support you in using the computer in your job search. We provide one-on-one assistance with individuals who need to learn the computer basics. We talk about using the internet as a research tool, targeting companies to learn about their business mission statements and company profiles.

Mock Interviews

  • Importance of preparing for interviews
  • Select Job for the mock interview
  • Participants will create 5 relevant questions and the answers for the mock interview.
  • These will be the questions used in the Mock Interview plus a couple of extras from the counsellor. 
  • Mock Interviews with Counsellors will take each participant and interview him or her in a private space. Participants should bring their resumes if they have them.
  • Debrief of the Interview
  • Closing Comments and Evaluation.
