Scoff 'n Scuff

In Newfoundland and Labrador, a "Scoff 'n' Scuff" means dinner and dance.  This fund raising event celebrates Newfoundland culture and features traditional music, stories, fiddling, square dancing as well as some not so traditional entertainment.  Our event in 2011 marks our 12th anniversary.  The event will take place at St. Christopher House at 248 Ossington Avenue on Saturday, May 7, 2011 at 7:30 in the Community Hall.  All money raised will benefit the Music School.

Performers include:

Merasheen- Dean Burry on vocals, guitar, accordion, whistle, gemshorn and bodhran, Paul Bradbury on bass, vocals and guitar, David Winsor on mandolin, violin, vocals, bodhran and bones and Sherry Squires on piano and vocals.

Daughters of the Rock an a cappella trio featuring Denise Norman, Jillian Rees-Brown and Sherry Squires

Julia MacFarlaine- fiddle

Steven Lush- storyteller

Kira Shepherd- harp and voice

Raquel Barela- Spanish bagpipe and Vida Mesa-Lee- tambourine

The Norman Fishing Tackle Choir- aka The Toronto Song Lovers

Lorraine Sutton- square dance caller.

There will be a cash bar and snack food.

Tickets for adults are $20 in advance and $25 at the door.  Students and seniors are $15.  If you cannot join us, please consider purchasing a ticket for one of our participants.

 Tickets are available through reception at 248 Ossington.  You can also email sherrysq@stchrishouse.org or call the Music School at 416-532-4828 x127 to reserve tickets.  And you can purchase tickets at the door the evening of the event.
