Catherine Nunn
Catherine Nunn was born in Toronto and has been playing piano since age 5. She has also dabbled with other instruments such as violin, trombone and guitar but her passion remains the piano and her favourite genre is classical.
Music has always been a great source of pleasure for Catherine. Music was always playing in the house as she grew up and she comes from a very musical family as her mother played the piano and her father played the clarinet. She grew up listening to her father’s jazz records which piqued her interest in music. Catherine began taking music lessons at a very young age and as she had older siblings who were constantly playing the piano she cannot remember ever NOT playing as a child. Catherine often joined in duets with her siblings and piano lessons became a real joy for her around the age of 11.
Catherine heard that St. Christopher House Music School needed a piano teacher and applied for the job. She has been teaching at St. Chris for seven years and enjoys every minute of it. She also enjoys entertaining seniors with her playing in various nursing homes and seniors’ residences around the city.
Catherine counts the following artists among her greatest influences: Oscar Peterson, Bill Evans, YoYo Ma, J.S. Bach, Chopin, Glenn Gould and Vlaidimir Horowitz.
