Anatoly Oransky – Children’s Tutoring Volunteer
I lived and worked as a teacher first in the Ukraine and after that in Israel. Now, I am in Toronto and recently received my teacher’s license to teach mathematics in Ontario. So, I have some international experience and qualifications and want share them with children who need help in this subject.
I have now been volunteering at St. Christopher House for two years, and will continue this year. There have been different students who I have helped including those from business department of a college and others having problems with regular math course in middle or high school.
St. Christopher House provides an exceptional recognition to a Volunteer Teacher which shows a volunteer their services are appreciated. It is more than just saying "thank you" at the end of a study year. This recognition acknowledges the work and contributions of a volunteer in a public way. Recognition here is an important part of programs that utilize volunteers to deliver services, teach and carry out organizational tasks.
I find the greatest satisfaction in helping children in mathematics as a mandatory subject of any middle or high school, and acknowledgement of this help is all I need.
