Friendly Visiting Introduction
Volunteers promote companionship and support through one-on-one home visits. Visits may include outings or other activities, and staff monitors partnerships. Volunteers may also link participants to other services and resources. This is a free service and is dependent on volunteer availability.
Other Friendly Visiting activities include the Friendly Connections:
Portuguese Learning Club: provides participants the opportunity to improve their literacy skills by helping each other in a friendly environment. The group takes place weekly and is facilitated by a Portuguese-speaking volunteer.
Computer Learning Club: in conjunction with the Bang of the Drum program participants meet their volunteers twice a week and spend an hour talking, learning about computers and surfing the Internet. The groups take place weekly and are facilitated by volunteers. Languages available are English, Portuguese and Vietnamese.
If you are already connected with the program and want to join the Friendly Connections, please let your volunteer or worker know.
